Dr Dermot Canavan

Dr Dermot Canavan's undergraduate training took place in Dublin Dental University Hospital (part of Trinity College Dublin) from where he graduated in 1980. He holds a membership in general dental surgery (MGDS) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (1987). Dr Canavan completed his post-graduate studies at the University of California in Los Angeles, with a masters degree in oral biology and a clinical certificate in orofacial pain management (1994).
He currently lectures in orofacial pain management at Dublin Dental University Hospital and conducts private clinics at 69 Eglinton Road, Donnybrook, Dublin 4, at the Galway Clinic (Doughiska), and at 104 Harley St, London.
Dr Canavan has lectured both nationally and internationally for medical and dental groups. He is currently the assistant editor of the Journal of the Irish Dental Association and has authored many articles and book chapters on orofacial pain management for medical and dental publications. He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP), a former president of the Irish Pain Society (2006) and a former president of the Metropolitan Branch of the Irish Dental Association (2008).
Dr Naomi Rahman
Specialist Oral Surgeon

Naomi qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2004 with an honours degree in dentistry and has worked as a House Officer in the Dublin Dental University Hospital and also in general dental practice. She was awarded the Membership of the Faculty of Dentistry (MFD) by the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2006. The following year she commenced a three-year doctorate in oral surgery in the Dublin Dental University Hospital. During this time she published numerous articles and was also invited to speak at dental conferences on surgical-related topics.
In 2010 she was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in oral surgery. She currently teaches part time in the Oral Surgery Department of the Dublin Dental School and Hospital.
Treatments provided by Dr Rahman include simple and surgical extractions, removal of wisdom teeth, intra-oral hard and soft tissue surgery, bone grafting and implant placement. Surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic, with the option of intravenous conscious sedation or general anaesthesia. Dr Rahman is a fully participating member with all major health insurers including VHI, Aviva, Quinn, St. Paul's Garda Medical Aid and the ESB Medical Fund.
